Tennis Wins Second Straight MVC Battle

WATERLOO, IA – Bradley Tennis picked up its second consecutive Missouri Valley Conference victory with a 5-2 triumph over UNI on Saturday afternoon at the UNI Tennis Complex in Waterloo, IA.

The Braves got off to a hot start, claiming their second consecutive doubles point. Madalena Andrade/Kirstin Hailey raced to a 6-0 win at the No. 1 spot, while Bozana Lojpur/Nikki Perlwitz clinched the point with a 6-2 victory at No. 2.

For good measure, Maria Bezmenova/Nina Marjanovic won their doubles match, 6-3, at the No. 3 spot.

The Panthers drew the match even with a win at No. 1 Singles, but BU responded with successive wins at Nos. 2, 3 and 6, clinching the match at 4-1.

Hailey picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot. She went 2-0 on the day. Andrade did the same, with her singles match finishing in a 6-2, 6-4 victory. Perlwitz sealed the deal with a 6-3, 6-2 win.

Match Notes: Nikki Perlwitz has now won eight of her last 10 singles matches and leads BU with 9 singles wins in dual match play… Perlwitz is now one win behind Lojpur on the all-time career singles win list with 62… Madalena Andrade/Kirstin Hailey won their eighth match of the season at No. 1 Doubles. That total is good for the fifth most wins at No. 1 Doubles by a pair in a single season… Andrade, Hailey and Marjanovic all picked up their first wins in Valley singles play this season…For Hailey, it was her first career Valley win in either singles or doubles…Today was only the second time this season BU picked up a win without a point from No. 1 Singles.
