O’Brien Earns Academic All-District Accolades

Junior Connor O'Brien of the Bradley baseball team was honored for his work on and off the field on Thursday as he was named to the Academic All-District Team, presented by CoSIDA.

O'Brien was one of four infielders from District 5 to earn the award – which includes all Division I student-athletes from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. He is now eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be released on Wednesday, June 8.

On the field, the first baseman ranks among the nation's elite this season. He is currently 10th in the country with 1.63 hits per game, while ranking 12th with a .411 batting average. O'Brien has also collected nine home runs, 12 doubles, 36 RBI and 37 runs scored.

O'Brien was named the seventh-best first baseman in the country in the updated D1Baseball power rankings, released this week.

Off the field, O'Brien owns a 3.40 grade point average while majoring in management and leadership. Overall, he is one of four players from the Valley to earn the academic all-district accolades.
