McDonnell Breaks Own Record in Steeplechase

DES MOINES, IA – Sophomore Sophia McDonnell set the school record in the Women's 3,000m Steeplechase and followed Charlie Parrish's runner-up finish in the Men's 3,000m Steeplechase with a runner-up finish of her own to cap the second day of action for Bradley in the 2022 Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake University's Drake Stadium.

Parrish improved upon his fourth-best time in program history, clocking 8:51.35 to finish just 15 hundredths of a second behind event champion Aziz JDai of Drake and earn the fifth All-MVC honor of his overall running career at Bradley. McDonnell followed in the final event of the day and dropped more than seven seconds off her previous school record set one year ago to the day during the 2021 MVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. McDonnell is now a four-time All-MVC performer in cross country and track.

Amiyah Davis and Hannah Ivy both advanced to the 400m finals as Bradley joined Illinois State and Southern Illinois by producing two of the eight finals qualfiers. Davis turned in a personal-best 55.38 during her prelims run, followed closely by Ivy at 55.41. Bradley's three entries in the Women's 800m - Tiana LoStracco, Julia Nielsen and Wilma Nielsen - also advanced to Sunday's event finals.

The 2022 MVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will conclude Sunday with a full slate of event finals.
