ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- For the second consecutive year, seniors Grace French and Camryn Monteer both earned Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete recognition with Monteer earning a spot on this year's first team and French taking home honorable mention recognition according to an announcement by the league office Tuesday.

Last year, French was a First-Team MVC Scholar-Athlete pick and was an honorable mention recipient for the second time in her career after earning honorable mention recognition as a sophomore in 2020.  Monteer was voted a First-Team Valley Scholar-Athlete this spring on the heels of earning honorable mention MVC Scholar-Athlete in 2021.

A nursing major with a 3.62 cumulative grade point average, Monteer was a Second-Team All-MVC selection for the second consecutive year this spring.  Ranking third on the team with a .314 average, she paced the Braves in at bats (169), hits (53), triples (4) and walks (22), while her 19 stolen bases were the most at Bradley since 2017 in addition to ranking fifth in the MVC this season.

Monteer hit .326 in Valley play and had a late-season surge highlighted by a career-best 11-game hit streak as she collected hits in 17 of the final 19 games and boasted a .397 average over that stretch.  She owned a .383 average with two outs and closed the season with a .396 on base percentage.

French joined Monteer as a Second-Team All-MVC performer this spring, after leading the Braves in homers (7) and RBI to go with her .288 average in addition to leading Bradley in nearly every pitching category.  Her 11 wins in the circle were the most by a Brave since 2015 and she closed the season with a 3.18 ERA with 14 complete games in her 22 starts, along with leading the team in innings pitched (134.1) and strikeouts (76).  In Valley play, French was 8-5 with a 3.44 ERA.

Majoring in Kinesiology & Health Science with a 3.84 cumulative grade point average, French earned a spot on the MVC's All-Tournament team after slugging three homers in Bradley's two games.  She closed the season with a team-best seven homers, while driving in a team-high 32 runs.  French is the only player in program history to win 11 or more games in a season and hit seven or more homers.  She tossed Bradley's first no-hitter since 2007 in early March, when she blanked St. Thomas.  French ranks ninth in Bradley history with 30 career victories.

The criteria for the MVC Scholar-Athlete Teams parallels the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) standards for Academic All-America voting.  Nominees must be starters or important reserves with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.00 scale).  Also, students must have participated in at least 75 percent of the regular-season games or played in the league championship tournament.  Student-athletes must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution (true freshmen and redshirt freshmen are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at their institution.
