Catton and O’Brien Earn Valley Scholar-Athlete Honors

Sophomore Taylor Catton and junior Connor O'Brien of the Bradley baseball team were honored for their work on and off the baseball diamond on Tuesday, each earning selection to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team.

Catton led Bradley out of the bullpen in 2022 – collecting three wins and four saves to go with a 5.02 earned run average in 66.1 innings of work. Off the mound, Catton owns a 3.90 grade point average, while majoring in middle school education mathematics.

O'Brien added MVC Scholar-Athlete honors to his All-Valley accolades that he earned at first base. The first player in school history to be named to the All-MVC First Team on three occasions, O'Brien became the fourth Brave in school history to lead the league in batting average at .392 – ranking 21st in the country. In the classroom, the management and leadership major has posted a 3.34 grade point average.

The duo were key players as Bradley finished fourth in the Valley standings with an 11-10 record – marking the first time in school history that BU posted a winning record in four-straight conference seasons.
