Kansas City – The Bradley soccer team lost for the first time in 2022, falling at Kansas City, 3-2. The Braves see their record evened at 1-1-0, while the Roos improve to 1-1-0.
 
Kansas City opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, taking advantage of a deflection in the midfield to score on a counter by Philipp Kimura. The Roos then doubled their advantage in the 55th minute when Shfeo Lar found a loose ball in the box and finished for the 2-0 tally.
 
Bradley pulled one back in the 74th minute when Patrick Fishburne scored his first goal of the 2022 season. After a cross from Pepe Mellado, Fishburne volleyed a shot over the Kansas City goalie and into the netting. Michael Rogalski also added an assist on the score that made it 2-1.
 
The Braves' comeback attempt, however, took a hit as the Roos were awarded a penalty kick just over two minutes later and then finished from the spot for the 3-1 lead. Bradley would continue to fight back and once again pulled within one in the game's 87h minute. After a deep cross from Reed Rogers into the box, Alex Olson centered the ball and Mellado redirected it into the netting for the 3-2 tally. The Braves, however, were unable to find the equalizer in the final three-plus minutes as the Roos held on for the victory.
 
Kansas City posted a slight edge in shots on the night, 14-12, with the Braves posting a 9-4 edge in the second 45 minutes of action. Nick Burke recorded four saves for BU in goal.
 
Bradley returns home to face Northern Illinois on Thursday night with kickoff at Shea Stadium set for 7 p.m.
