Iowa City, IA. -- The Bradley Braves Track & Field team brought home two titles from the Hawkeye Invite on Saturday afternoon, including a school and meet record in the 600-meter race.
School and Meet Record Set
Red-shirt sophomore Wilma Nielsen broke a school and meet record on Saturday in the Women's 600-meter race with a time of 1:29.78. The previous record for the indoor race stood for just 364 days, as Tiana LoStracco held the previous record with a time of 1:34.72.
This is the second school record that Wilma Nielsen holds. She also holds the outdoor record in the 800-meter race, which is also a Missouri Valley Conference record.
Other Hawkeye Invite Highlights
Julia Nielsen finished fourth in the Women's 600 meter (1:32.01) and Tiana LoStracco finished fifth (1:33.12).
Junior Sophia McDonnell also brought home a win in her event of the Women's 1-mile. McDonnell finished with a time of 4:54.42.
Sophomore Ashley Maguire finished two spots behind McDonnell in the 1-mile race in third place. Maguire finished with a time of 4:55.39
In the Men's 1-mile race, the Braves had three runners finish in the top 10. Graduate student Alec Danner had the best finish in third place (4:11.58). Senior Charlie Parrish finished right behind Danner in fourth place (4:12.03). Graduate student Matt Aho was the third Brave to finish in the top 10, in seventh place (4:13.73).
Other notable performances include a fourth-place finish from Amelia Lesher in the Women's 800 meter (2:21.37).
In the Men's 3000 meter, Brandon Kamp finished in fourth place with a time of 8:39.26.
