PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley Volleyball secured two wins this weekend at Renaissance Coliseum, defeating Indiana State and Evansville. Their current record for the 2023 season is 9-15.
The Braves faced the Indiana State Sycamores on Friday night for the first time this season. Bradley swept the Sycamores in three sets at Renaissance Coliseum. Senior Jasmine Green had a double-double for the Braves, recording 11 kills and 12 digs. Karagan Coggin, Abby Johnson and Kendall Minta all contributed with eight kills.
Bradley hit for .295 compared to a .174 Indiana State percentage. The Braves collected six blocks while the Sycamores only had three.
Coggin had a historic night for the Braves, tallying her 1,000th career kill in her fifth year on the Hilltop. She became the 16th player in Bradley's history to reach the 1,000 kill club.
Following their win on Friday, Bradley faced Evansville on Saturday night and completed a weekend sweep. The Braves took the first set with a score of 25-18 but the Purple Aces responded with a 25-20 set two victory. Bradley took a commanding 25-14 set three and closed out the match in the fourth set by a score of 25-17.
The Braves recorded 26 block assists in the contest while the Purple Aces had 16. Johnson led the team with 11 kills while Green tallied nine kills, 23 digs and four service aces. Minta collected seven kills and nine blocks.
In a historic weekend for Coggin, she became the all-time leader in sets played in Bradley history, now totaling 511 sets played and 1,011 career kills on the Hilltop.
Looking ahead, Bradley is on the road at Drake on Friday and Northern Iowa on Saturday night next weekend. The Braves return to Renaissance Coliseum on Nov. 3 to face Valparaiso. Only seven games remain in Missouri Valley Conference play before the tournament.
