PEORIA, Ill. – The Bradley soccer team dropped a closely contested game against Belmont, falling at Shea Stadium, 3-1. The Braves are now 4-3-4, while the Bruins improve to 6-3-2.
Bradley started the game with high pressure against the Bruins, attempting to make them uncomfortable with the ball. However, Belmont did not take long to find open spaces and create dangerous opportunities.
In the 11th minute, the Bruins found the breakthrough after a header by Alex Clayton. Twelve minutes later, Jansen Wilson tapped in the second goal to shock the Braves earlier in the game.
Bradley responded immediately to the two blows as forward
Ian Ferguson found the back of the net in the 25th minute off a rebound coming from DJ Koulai. Ferguson's goal was the first of his collegiate career.
BU finished the first half with four shots on goal and five corners. Goalkeeper
Drew Berry had a crucial save right before halftime to keep the Braves in the game. Berry totaled four saves in the contest.
Belmont netted a crucial goal in the 53rd minute of play after Jansen Wilson scored the third and final goal from outside the box off a set piece.
Bradley tried to stage a comeback, but Belmont's defense proved effective against the Braves' dangerous opportunities during the second half.

The Braves will be back in action next Monday, October 9, at 6 p.m. as they travel to Madison, WI, to face Wisconsin. The last meeting between both teams at Shea Stadium was in 2018, and the game ended in a 0-0 draw after two OTs.
