Hitting the Road, Jack!: After a brief two-game homestand against MVC opponents Missouri State and Belmont, Bradley travels north for a three-game road trip, beginning with Monday night's matchup against Wisconsin. The Braves will then head to DeKalb, Ill., for a matchup with new MVC foe Northern Illinois on Oct. 14. Bradley completes the road trip in Des Moines, Iowa, facing Drake on Oct. 18. The Braves are 4-1-0 on the road this season, taking victories in each of their first four road games before falling to Bowling Green.
Big Ten Battle: This upcoming match versus Wisconsin marks the second consecutive season the Braves will face an opponent from the Big Ten Conference. Last season, Bradley traveled to Ann Arbor, Mich., to face the Michigan Wolverines, suffering a 3-0 defeat.
Wisconsin Notes
Previewing the Badgers: Wisconsin's roster comprises a mix of upperclassmen with sophomores and freshmen. Fourteen of the 27 players are juniors, seniors or graduate students. Statistically, Wisconsin has scored 10 goals in 11 games with eight Badgers scoring a goal this season including two players with two goals. The Badgers have scored multiple goals in just two matches this season, netting two against Drake on Aug. 27 and #13 Northwestern on Sept. 19. Defensively, Wisconsin has allowed 11 goals in 11 matches, led by Junior goalkeeper Nate Crockford's six clean sheets. Wisconsin has allowed two or more goals in three matches this season, most recently allowing three goals to #23 Michigan State.
Difficult Schedule: Wisconsin has played four ranked opponents during the 2023 season. The Badgers are 1-1-2 against ranked opponents, defeating #2 Kentucky (1-0, Sept. 1), drew with #23 Indiana (0-0, Sept. 15) and #13 Northwestern (2-2, Sept. 19) and, most recently, lost to #23 Michigan State (1-3, Oct. 6).
Series History
Bradley and Wisconsin meet for the sixth time in history and the second time in the last 30 years. The two teams first met in 1987 as the Badgers defeated the Braves 3-0 at Notre Dame High School in the sixth match in Bradley Soccer History. The Braves are 0-4-1 all-time and 0-2-0 on the road. Most recently, the teams battled to a double-overtime 120-minute 0-0 draw at Shea Stadium on Sept. 9, 2018.
