As the Braves play their final two home games of the season this weekend, Senior Veronika Roberts sat down to talk about her time at Bradley.

Q: What are you going to miss about Bradley?
A: "My teammates and the relationships I've built. I guess how close everybody is. You don't really get that feel at a bigger university, so that's the one thing that I really appreciated about Bradley."

Q: Why did you pick Bradley in the first place?
A: "Well, I was between going far from home– So, I'm from Indianapolis, that's like three hours. It was just close enough. Like, not too close where my parents couldn't show up randomly. It's close enough where if something was wrong they could come. I'm a big family person, so they mean a lot to me."

Q: What have you learned about yourself while you've been at college at Bradley or from basketball?
A: "Just comparing myself from freshmen year to now, just how much I've grown and leadership qualities and as a person, it's crazy all the lessons I've learned from basketball. Adversity and being able to overcome everything just preparing me for the next chapter."

Q: What's your favorite Bradley memory? (Question from Celia Satter)
"Probably winning the conference tournament. That was crazy. That year, nobody expected us to win, and then every game we just, like... They were all close games, too, which is crazy, and it was during COVID, so we're all spread out on the bench. That was my favorite, just celebrating. And going to the tournament. Even though it was COVID, it was still a cool experience."

Q: What are you most looking forward to after college?
A: "I don't know. I guess traveling, going to the beach... I love the beach. Obviously I haven't gotten to do that much because basketball is year-round. Spending time with my family, just because I missed out on a lot being here for four years. I'm ready to go back and annoy them."

Q: What's the best class you took at Bradley?
A: "Can I say none of them? I don't know, I have a health minor, so I took a lot of psychology and sociology classes. Those were interesting. I always knew I wanted to help people. I didn't know if it was nursing... I started off as a Physical Therapy major, but then I switched to Public Health. I always wanted to help people, but I had to figure out in what aspect I wanted to do it. The counseling is interesting, like mental health. I know that's really big now."

Q: What advice would you give your younger self now that you're going to be a college graduate?
A: "Don't take everything so seriously. I feel like my freshman and sophomore year I spent a lot of time worrying about little stuff, but at the end of the day it didn't really matter. Just focus on me. Be happy... and have fun. I had a lot of fun in my four years."

Q: Do you have any messages to share with your teammates before you depart?
"I'm just grateful for them and the relationships that I've built and the people I've met. Without Bradley, I wouldn't have met any of my best friends, like they'll be in my wedding and our kids are gonna go on play dates."
