Jacksonville, AL. -- The Bradley Baseball team (2-3) continues their stretch of road games to start the season by heading down to Jacksonville, Alabama to face Jacksonville State in a weekend series.

The Bradley Braves return for their 102nd baseball season. Head coach of the Braves, Elvis Dominguez returns for his 15th season.

The Bradley Braves are 2-3 in the young 2023 season. So far, the Braves have traveled to Louisiana and Arkansas for their first two series of the season. 

Last Time Out

After battling with mother nature for two days, the Braves finally got underway on Sunday against Little Rock for a doubleheader. 

The Braves lost the first game 2-0 after a pitcher's duel broke out between Jacob Kisting and Jackson Wells of Little Rock. 

The Braves bounced back in the second game, which was a back-and-forth game until the Braves broke it open in extra innings with a 10-run, 10th inning. The Braves split the series with a 19-9 victory. 

Series History

The Braves and the Gamecocks have only met three previous times. The Gamecocks lead the series 2-1. The most recent matchup was in 2012 with the Braves earning an 11-5 victory. 

About The Gamecocks

Jacksonville State is 3-5 on the young season. The Gamecocks have played a strong schedule to start the season with a series against Georgia and Southern Illinois. Jacksonville State lost the series against the Bulldogs but won the series against the Salukis. 

The Gamecocks are coming off a 17-3 road loss on Tuesday night against Alabama. 

Players To Watch

TJ Manteufel is coming off a great weekend in Arkansas. The Union Grove, Wisconsin native finished the weekend 4-8 with four RBIs, three runs scored and blasted a three-run home run in the second game on Sunday. Manteufel also holds a team-leading OPS of 1.400. 

Ryan Vogel continues his stretch of good play. Vogel leads the team in batting average at .474 as well as hits and on-base percentage. 

Connor O'Brien hit a home run in consecutive weeks with a grand slam in Sunday's win over Little Rock.
