Champaign, Ill. -- Saturday in Champaign, Illinois, Darren Guason's Bradley outdoor track team took one title and many outstanding performances in the final day of the Gary Wienke Invitational.
Will Smith took home the title in the 800m while several other Braves brought home top 10 finishes.
The two-day event was held at the University of Illinois Demirjan Park.
Will Smith led the way in winning the 800m. The Jasper, Indiana junior gave Bradley
two titles for the meet.
Jack Crull was a winner in the 1500m on Friday.
The Braves dominated placing four of the first five spots. Yorkville, Illinois sophomore Ivan Wescott, finished third, Algonquin junior
Zach Albrecht was fourth, and Brockville Ontario junior
Mason Jones was fifth.
Peoria sophomore
Eli Rieker finished third in the 100m. Canadian freshman
Robert Stan finished sixth in the 400m.
The women's team placed two runners in the top eight in the 100m. St. Louis Missouri's
Leah Thames finished third with Gurnee, Illinois freshman
Jada Vaughn running eighth.
In the women's 400m, Bloomington, Indiana sophomore Amiya Davis came home with a third-place finish, and her Whitby, Ontario teammate
Andriana Erotocritou placed
seventh. Cambridge, Iowa Senior
Amelia Lesher finished eighth in the 800m.
Noticeable in the two-day event, was the progress made by the several underclassmen. The team looks to peak as the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor looms on May 12-14 in Normal, Illinois.
