The Braves wrapped up the regular season with a series at home against Belmont, unfortunately falling in all three games.
The opening game of the series was a low scoring affair, with Belmont winning the game with a score of 1-0. That lone run of the game came in the third inning on a double that sent the runner home from second. The Braves only tallied two hits in the first game, a single from
Lauren DeRolf and a double from
Bailey Sample.
Grace French got the start in the circle and threw a complete game, allowing nine hits, one run and one walk while striking out two.
Belmont took the second game of the series 4-2, getting out to an early lead. In the top of the first, the Bruins put three runs on the board, leaving Bradley to play from behind for most of the game. Bradley managed to get two runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth thanks to back-to-back home runs from
Austin Comstock and
Abbott Badgley. Belmont would go on to add a fourth run in the seventh, taking the second game of the series.
Angela Cirone and
Camryn Schaller both went 2-3 in the game with two singles each. Schaller also threw a complete game in the circle. She allowed four runs on five hits and struck out five.
The Braves fell in the final game of the series 3-4. Belmont picked up three runs in the third inning, similar to the events of the pervious day. The Bruins then tallied their fourth run of the game in the sixth, but Bradley got on the board in the bottom half of the inning. After French and
Bailey Sample were hit by pitches,
Abbott Badgley loaded the bases after an error in right field. French went on to score thanks to a sac fly from
Austin Comstock, giving the Braves their first run of the game. Bradley would tally two more runs in the bottom of the seventh on hits from French and Sample but would ultimately fall to the Bruins again.
The Braves and Bruins will once again meet this week on Wednesday at the MVC Tournament in Carbondale.
