Peoria, Ill. -- Second-year Bradley Softball Head Coach
Sarah Willis has added a trio of graduate transfers to the roster, announcing transfers Macey Moore (Toledo), Tori Meyer (DePaul) and Sydney Kennedy (DMACC) will join the Braves for the 2024 season.
"I am excited to announce the addition of three tremendous athletes to the Bradley Braves softball family," said Willis.
Moore (Ashville, Ohio/Teays Valley/Toledo) appeared in 37 of Toledo's 46 games and hit .267. The 5' 9" catcher had a .991 fielding percentage in her redshirt-sophomore season, committing only one error in 116 chances. Moore was named to Academic All-MAC for the 2023 season.
"We are excited for Macey to join the Braves this fall," said Willis. "She will play an intricate part on our defense as she is a natural leader and communicator behind the dish. Her competitive nature and drive as a player will make an immediate impact on our defensive tempo and will positively impact the bullpen as she has an innate ability to work with pitchers."
Meyer (Barrington, Ill./Barrington/DePaul) was one of four DePaul Blue Devils to start all 51 games across the season. The outfielder/designated player hit .257 on the season, fourth highest on the team, and ranked second on the team in runs batted in with 26. Meyer also had a .991 fielding percentage, committing only one error on the season. In her career, Meyer has only committed two errors across four seasons and has a .990 career fielding percentage. Meyer was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on February 13th, 2023. While at DePaul, Meyer was named Second Team All-BIG EAST. She was also recognized for her academic abilities and was selected to the All-BIG EAST Academic Team in 2020, 2021 and 2022, earned NFCA Scholar Athlete recognition in 2021 and 2022 and was named CoSIDA Academic All-District in 2022.
"Tori Meyer is bringing a wealth of experience to our program," noted Willis. "She has been a staple in the outfield for Depaul and her transition to Bradley will provide leadership and maturity that we are looking for. She is a tough competitor that brings great intensity. Tori is a ballplayer that can handle the big moments and we are excited for her to spread the fire she will bring to our returners."
Kennedy (Peosta, Iowa/Western Dubuque/DMACC) led the Bears in the circle with a 1.95 ERA in 169.0 innings pitched. Her ERA ranked 22nd among all NJCAA Division II pitchers and her 169 innings pitched ranked 16th. She also led the Bears in strikeouts (257, tied for seventh among D-II pitchers), complete games (15), shutouts (5) and wins (27, ranked third among all D-II pitchers). The NJCAA First Team All-American also excelled at the plate, hitting .398 with a .438 on-base percentage and a 1.011 on-base-plus-slugging percentage. She also had 16 doubles, six home runs and 56 RBIs. Kennedy's contributions were vital in helping DMACC finish 54-12 and place third in the NJCAA D-II World Series. Kennedy was also selected to the NJCAA All-World Series Team.
"Sydney Kennedy is a major addition to our softball program," said Willis. "She is one of the premier JUCO pitchers in the country. She is an All-American that will provide great leadership in the pitching circle and has immense ability to deceive and disrupt hitters' timing. She is a true competitor that can handle the big moments and it will be exciting to see her leadership infuse our Braves defense!"
