Four Bradley Women's Golfers Named WGCA All-American Scholars

Coral Springs, Fla. – Megan Welch, Mara Flaherty, Maria Perakis and Allison Pacocha were named Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars, per a recent announcement by the WGCA.

Welch and Flaherty received the award for a fourth consecutive year, Perakis earned her second consecutive nomination, and Pacocha earned the honor for the first time.
 
Bradley has had at least four WGCA All-American Scholars each of the past five years and seven of the last eight seasons. 
 
The WGCA All-American Scholar team included 1,401 women's collegiate golfers from NCAA Division I, II & III. The criteria for selection required a minimum 3.50 grade point average and participation in at least 50 percent of the rounds scheduled during the regular season. 

Welch is a mathematics education major with a 3.69 cumulative grade point average. She maintained the second-lowest average round score on the team, averaging 77.62 strokes, good for 19th lowest in the MVC. Welch finished was one of five Braves to finish in the top 10 in a golf tournament this season, finishing eighth in the Bradley Coyote Creek Classic. She had 18 rounds in the 70s and tied a team-best with a season-low of 70.

A manufacturing engineering major with a 3.97 cumulative grade point average, Flaherty averaged 78.63 strokes per round and finished tied for second in the Bradley Coyote Creek Classic. Flaherty was one of four Braves to complete all 30 rounds with 20 rounds in the 70s. She was one of two Braves to complete a round in 70 strokes, the team low.

A biochemistry major, Perakis owns a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average. Perakis led the Braves in stroke average and was 15th in the Valley, averaging 77.26 strokes per round. Her average round score is the 26th-lowest single-season round score in Bradley Women's Golf history. Perakis was one of four Braves to play in all 30 rounds this season and had 25 rounds in the 70s with a season-low of 73. 

Pacocha, an accounting major, finished third on the team in stroke average with 78.03. Her best tournament during her freshman season saw her tie for 12th at the Bradley Coyote Creek Classic as she helped the Braves finish third out of nine teams. Pacocha completed all 30 rounds and shot 21 rounds in the 70s with a season-low score of 71.

Bradley's four WGCA All-American Scholars pushed the program's total to 53 honorees over the last 14 seasons.
