EVANSVILLE, IN – The Bradley Braves swept the USI Invitational at Southern Indiana this weekend. BU moved to 7-2 this season.
The Braves matched up with Jacksonville State on Friday morning to start the invitational and won 3-0. Bradley took commanding set victories with scores of 25-16, 25-11 and 25-20. The team hit for a collective .450 percentage, the fourth highest mark in Bradley history.
In her first game of the season, senior Doga Topcicek recorded 14 kills in 25 attempts with only one error (.520). Jasmine Green had 10 kills while Abby Johnson had five.
Bradley played in their second match of the day against Arkansas - Pine Bluff that afternoon. The Braves recorded a 3-0 victory with scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-16.
Green, Tendai Titley and Silan Demirkol all collected seven kills in Bradley's victory. Green also had three block assists. Graduate student Dru Kuck recorded her 1000th dig of her collegiate career against the Lions.
Bradley played Southern Indiana on Saturday night to conclude their third invitational of the season. They won by a score of 3-2. The Braves and Eagles played a back-and-forth match with scores of 25-21, 22-25, 25-18, 23-25 and a fifth set score of 18-16.
Four Braves had kills in double-digits with Green leading the way recording 14. Karagan Coggin had two solo blocks and three blocking assists while Johnson collected one solo block and five blocking assists. Kuck had 22 digs and Silan Demirkol recorded 21.
After the weekend, Green was named the Invitational MVP with 31 kills between the three matches. Karagan Coggin and Kuck were both named to the All-Invitational team.
