Bradley Volleyball Drops Two of Three at Chippewa Invitational

MOUNT PLEASANT, MI. – Bradley Volleyball continued their season over the weekend with one win and two losses at the Chippewa Invitational. The Braves now hold a 4-2 record in the 2023 season. 

On Friday morning, BU matched up with St. Louis for the first game of the weekend. Bradley won the first set by a score of 25-21 but dropped the next three sets, all by a score of 25-20. 

Freshman Tendai Titley led the way with 10 kills while Jasmine Green recorded seven. Karagan Coggin collected three aces and three block assists. Despite having more blocks than SLU, the Billikens managed to hit .286 in the four-set match. 

The Braves played in their second match of the day with Albany and recorded a sweep with impressive scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-20.


Titley once again led the team with 10 kills. Sophomore Kendall Minta had nine kills and hit for .667 in 12 attempts. As a team, Bradley hit for .388 while Albany compiled a .253 percentage. 

To conclude the weekend, Bradley played in their first five-set match of the season versus Central Michigan. The Braves and Chippewas went back-and-forth for the entire match, highlighted by a 31-29 loss in the second set. Central Michigan won the match with a 15-9 final in the fifth set. 

For the third consecutive match, Titley led the Braves in kills with 13. Coggin hit for .348 with 10 kills and five block assists while Minta recorded 10 kills, two solo blocks, three blocking assists and a .368 hitting percentage. Bradley had 14 service aces in the match, the most in a five-set match since 1997. Freshman Corrie Brown collected five aces. 

Named to the All-Invitational team was freshman standout Tendai Titley. Between the three matches, she had 33 kills to lead the Braves. She also tallied five block assists.

Bradley heads to the Southern Indiana Tourney in Evansville, Indiana, next weekend. On Friday, the Braves match up with Jacksonville State and Arkansas - Pine Bluff. BU will face Southern Indiana on Saturday morning. Bradley returns home on Sep. 12 to play against Illinois at 6 PM.
