Peoria, Ill.-- Freshman Caitlin Washington will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a lower leg injury sustained during practice.
"My heart breaks for Caitlin and our team, as she has been working tirelessly to help our team. In just five games, her impact as a freshman was immediate, and we will certainly miss her scoring spark off the bench," said Head Coach Kate Popovec-Goss. "Our coaches and players have been inspired by her resiliency and toughness, and I have full confidence she will attack her recovery with the same fortitude. We are grateful she can obtain a medical redshirt and know she will receive excellent care from our sports medicine staff. The future is bright for Caitlin, and we look forward to her return next season!"
This season, Washington appeared in five games, contributing 21 points. She achieved her career-high in both minutes and points during the matchup against Western Illinois, playing 21 minutes and scoring nine points.
Before coming to Bradley, Washington had an impressive high school career at Neuqua Valley High School. She was a three-time unanimous All-Conference selection, as well as an All-State and All-Area honoree. She concluded her high school career as the second-leading scorer in program history with 1,393 points.
The Braves will continue their season on Dec. 12, when they take on the University of Illinois.
