Box Score PEORIA, Ill. -- The Bradley Braves Baseball team fought hard, but fell to the Evansville Purple Aces, 9-7.
The Purple Aces had a strong top of the first, scoring three runs. Junior
Timmy O'Brien answered, hitting a solo home run to make it a 3-1 game.
Evansville exited the top of the third with a 9-1 lead. The Braves fought back in the bottom of the sixth, starting with an RBI single by Senior
Logan Delgado. Then, Freshman
Isaac Sobieszczyk hit a two-RBI single. Junior
Cole Luckey kept the inning alive for the Braves with an RBI double. The Braves exited the sixth inning trailing by four.
In the top of the seventh, Senior
Ryan Vogel robbed a home run from the Purple Aces, showing his speed and awareness.
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, O'Brien hit another solo home run. O'Brien has homered twice in both of the last two games. These are the only two times he has hit two home runs in a single game in his career. Junior
Michael Mylott hit an RBI double later in the inning, cutting Evansville's lead to two.
Evansville did not allow the Braves to score in the last two frames, resulting in their 9-7 win. The Braves outhit the Purple Aces, 12-9. Vogel, O'Brien, Mylott and Luckey all had two hits for the Braves.
Junior
Jack Stellano pitched 5.2 innings for the Braves, striking out five. He only allowed two hits, with no walks or runs.
