Braves Secure Individual Titles at MVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Peoria, IL. - The Bradley Braves had a couple stand-out performances on Sunday during the 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. 

Individual Championships

Julia Nielsen made quite the impression at the meet by winning two individual championships in the 800m and 1500m, setting new MVC Meet records in the process. Following her victories in both events, Nielsen was honored as the Most Outstanding Women's Track Athlete for the MVC Championship. Her remarkable achievements include a personal best time earlier this year of 2:00.99 in the 800m, which currently places her 8th in the national rankings.

Jack Crull also had an impressive showing, taking home the individual title in the 1500m. Additionally, Eli Rieker achieved a personal best while securing the individual title in the 200m race.

In the 1500m, Julia Nielsen and Jack Crull both won their respective races securing individual championships. Nielsen set both the MVC Meet and Facility records with a time of 4:21:89, while Crull won with a time of 3:48.95.

Nielsen dominated the 800m event setting new records for both the MVC Meet and Facility record with a stunning time of 2:03.78.

With a personal best time and school record, Eli Rieker claimed the individual championship in the 200m with a time of 20.93, outpacing Tezz Dozier (20.99) from Belmont. Rieker was also the recipient of the Elite 17 Award, which is given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing at the finals site of each of the MVC's 17 team championships.


Notable Podium Performances

Jack Crull finished second (1:49.06) with a school record and Will Smith finished third (1:50.22) in the 800m race.

Jayde Rosslee took second place in the 10000m on Friday evening with a time of 29:49.02. 

In the Women's 400m, Amiyah Davis took third place with a personal best time of 54:41.

Max Dieterich clinched third place in the men's 1500m race, finishing with a time of 3:50.30.

Nadia Potgieter crossed the finish line in third place in the 5000m event with a time of 16:50.67.

Anna Perry just missed the podium finishing in fourth place in the women's 10000m with a time of 35:45.06.


Next Up - NCAA Regionals

The NCAA DI men's and women's outdoor track and field championship selections for the first round meets in 2024 will be announced on Thursday, May 16, with all the details available on NCAA.com. The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee are in charge of selecting and revealing the participants for the 2024 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The NCAA first rounds will take place from Wednesday, May 22 through Saturday, May 25. Both the DI men's and women's competitions will happen simultaneously. The events will be held in two regions - the NCAA East first round in Lexington, Kentucky, with Kentucky as the host, and the NCAA West first round in Fayetteville, Arkansas, with Arkansas as the host.
