Peoria, IL - Malevy Leons signs an exhibit 10 contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder, an exhibit 10 contract is a contract that allows the NBA team to convert the player's 1-year deal into a two-way contract.
Leons from IJmuiden, Netherlands played three seasons for the Braves (2021-2024) after transferring from Mineral Area Community College and being named the National Junior College Player of the Year. In his last season for the Braves, Leons finished the 2023-24 season averaging 13.8 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 1.5 SPG, and 1.5 BPG while shooting 49% from the floor and 34% from behind the three-point line.Â
Malevy was one of the main fixtures in one of the most successful stretches of Bradley Basketball in nearly 30 years. As a team, the Braves won their first Missouri Valley Regular Season title since 1996 and made back-to-back National Invitation Tournaments in 2023 & 2024. Personally, Leons was named All-Missouri Valley Conference 2nd Team, Most Improved Team, and All-Missouri Valley Conference Defensive team in 2022-23. In 2023-24, he was named All-Missouri Valley Conference First Team and All-MVC Defensive Team. He was also named as a back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year in both 2022-23 and 2023-24.
Additionally, Leons ended his Bradley career as one of only five players in Bradley Basketball history to be named to three or more regular season all-tournament teams and is the only player in the 117-year history of the Missouri Valley Conference to record 50+ blocks and 50+ steals in a single season, accomplishing the feat twice in 2022-23 and 2023-24. That doesn't end the rarefied air that Leons finds himself in as he is one of only two players in the history of Bradley Men's Basketball to record 100+ steals and 100+ blocks in a career joining Mitchell "JJ" Anderson.
