Bowling Green took an early lead in the 21st minute when Trace Terry found the back of the net. However, the Braves responded with determination, and in the 58th minute, Kevin Mejias calmly converted a penalty kick to level the score at 1-1. Mejias' goal highlighted Bradley's ability to stay in the game despite their numerical disadvantage.

Bowling Green's pressure intensified in the second half as they took advantage of the extra man, firing 10 of their 14 shots after the break. Bradley's defense, led by goalkeeper Drew Berry, stood firm for much of the game, with Berry making crucial saves in the second half.
