Peoria, Ill. - The Bradley Braves kept it close at the half but ultimately fell to the Illinois State Redbirds 74-58 on Sunday at Illinois State.
A Back and Forth Start
The Braves and Redbirds went back and forth throughout the first half with seven lead changes, but Illinois State held a 28-24 lead heading into the second half of the game.
Standout Performances for Bradley
- Claire McDougall led the team with 15 points, shooting 5-for-7 from the field and a perfect 2-for-2 from three. She also totaled an assist and five rebounds.
- Tamia Perryman put up back-to-back double-digit games, scoring 13 points while grabbing two boards and an assist.
- Ellie McDermid put up numbers across the scoresheet with nine points, leading the team in rebounds and assists with eight and four, respectively.
A Slow Second Half
Bradley kept it close through the first half, only trailing by four points. However, Illinois State came out strong in the second half, scoring 23 points in both the third and fourth quarters to put the game out of reach of the Braves, who only only scored 34 points in the second half.
Help from the Bench
The Braves saw significant production from their bench, which contributed 21 points. Bradley also did a good job shutting down the Redbirds' depth scoring, holding their bench to just five points in the combined 50 minutes they saw on the court.
Looking Forward
Bradley will look to turn things around in their upcoming homestand as they take on the Missouri State Bears on January 31 and the Southern Illinois Salukis on February 2.
