Peoria, Ill. – The Bradley Braves fall in two games at home, a 2-3 loss to Southern Illinois and a 2-3 defeat against Drake.

Match One – Southern Illinois

Bradley took the first two sets, both by a score of 25-22, before losing the next three. Each set was close, including 15-15 scores in both the first two sets, a 23-23 game in set four and trailed 12-11 in the fifth set. Out of the three lost sets, the Braves only fell by six, two and three points, respectively. Freshman Gracie Furlong led the way for the Braves with 15 kills without playing every point. Senior Irene Mostardini and redshirt-freshman Tendai Titley both notched 19 digs for the Braves. In her first start at home, Freshman Chloe Parker showed fans what she's made of with a team-high three block assists and an attacking percentage of .450 with nine kills as a member of the Braves rotation. Sophomore Maria Drapp continues to shine with 47 assists. In Bradley's second and fourth sets, the team attack percentages were .289 and .344, some of the strongest of the season.

Match Two – Drake

The Braves lost the first set 25-23, took set two by the largest margin of the match, 25-14, lost set three 25-17, won a comeback thriller in set four 33-31, yet fell in set five 15-13. As a team, the Braves had eight aces and 99 digs, the most digs in a game this season in the Missouri Valley Conference. Furlong led the Braves with 16 kills, cementing her dominance as just a freshman. Parker continued to shine at the net, with five block assists. Mostardini led the way with 26 digs, as four additional Braves had double-digit digs in the contest. Drapp continued to shine with 53 assists. Yet the Braves set four comeback would not have happened without the spark of the bench from Junior Mairen Mannon. Mannon entered for the Braves with the team trailing 13-8 in an elimination set. She recorded nine kills for the squad, leading the team during a six-point rally that boosted the score from a 23-17 deficit to a tie at 23. In that rally, three kills came from Mannon, as two came from Sophomore Lauren Dale. Her performance in those last two sets consisted of 11 kills, two solo blocks, while notching a .579 attack percentage. Her 11 kills were the third most for the Braves in the game.

Coming up…

The Braves will look to rebound on the road at Murray State on Friday, October 24, at 6 p.m. and Belmont on Saturday, October 25, at 5 p.m.
