Peoria, Ill. – Bradley Women's Basketball improved to 2–0 on the season Wednesday night at Carver Arena, powering past DePaul 78–64 in a complete team performance. The Braves controlled the game for more than 35 minutes, using efficient scoring, strong interior play, and timely defensive stops to secure their second non-conference win of the year.
A Fast Start
Bradley set the tone early, opening the game on a 14–2 run fueled by active hands and transition opportunities. The Braves converted seven first-quarter turnovers into points and knocked down two threes in the opening frame to take a 21–17 lead after 10 minutes. In the second quarter, Bradley's physicality on the glass created separation, generating eight second-chance points to build a 38–30 halftime advantage.
Standout Performances for Bradley
Bradley's offense was balanced and steady all evening, headlined by a career night from Kaylen Nelson. The fifth year guard poured in 28 points on 10-for-16 shooting, including four made threes, while also contributing three rebounds and three made free throws. She scored in every quarter and repeatedly halted DePaul momentum with tough baskets.
Mya Wardle delivered one of the most complete efforts of the game, filling the stat sheet with 13 points, a team-high eight assists, four steals, and three rebounds. Freshman Maya Foz added 14 points and continued her efficient start to the season, while Claire McDougall posted 8 points and 8 rebounds off the bench. Kali Fortson anchored the interior with 9 rebounds and 6 points, helping Bradley win the glass 46–40.
Putting the Game Out of Reach
Bradley dominated the third quarter, shooting an impressive 72.7% from the field and 75% from three. Nelson caught fire with 14 points in the period, including a stretch of three straight threes that pushed the lead to its largest margin at 58–44. The Braves maintained their pace into the fourth quarter, never allowing DePaul closer than 10 points the rest of the way.
Defensive Poise
Bradley forced 14 turnovers and turned them into 20 points, all while limiting DePaul to 2-for-6 shooting from three in the second half. The Braves also held DePaul to just 27.8% shooting in the third quarter, the key defensive stretch that allowed them to pull away.
