PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley University baseball athlete Bobby Atkinson has been named this week's Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday. Atkinson was honored after hitting .400 with a .455 on base percentage and .700 slugging percentage, including one home run and five runs batted in Bradley's season-opening series against Alabama.

The senior from Darien, Illinois, went four-for-ten in Bradley's three-game series in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and led the Braves in multiple offensive categories in Alabama, including batting average (.400), slugging percentage (.700), RBIs (five) and total bases (seven). Atkinson also hit a three-run home run in his first at-bat as a Bradley Brave on Feb. 14.

Atkinson's strong performance and academic success have earned him this week's Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete honor.
