Peoria, IL -- The Bradley Braves 22-7 (13-5 MVC) hit the road to Valparaiso, IN to take on the Valparaiso Beacons 13-16 (6-12 MVC)
Setting the Table
The Bradley Braves will meet the Valparaiso Beacons for the second time this season when BU makes to the trip to Indiana. This will be the second meeting between the two programs this season with the initial meeting coming all the way back in December in the Braves second MVC game of the season which saw BU claim a double-overtime win 81-75. Bradley sits at 13-5 in the MVC standings in a tie for second place with the UNI Panthers. Valparaiso sits in 11th place at 6-12 in the MVC but can still finish as high as 7th.
About the Braves
The Braves will look to close out the away portion of their season with a win against the Beacons the Braves will finish with an impressive 8-2 away record in the Valley, which would tie them for the 6th highest single season away wins total in program history. The Braves continue to lead the nation in three point percentage, shooting above 40% in all of their last five games, including an astounding 51.9% against Southern Illinois and 54.5% in their OT thriller against Murray State. The success of Bradley's deep ball has also coincided with a return to form for
Duke Deen. Deen has set the standard for the Braves scoring the past 5 games, averaging 18.6 points to go along with 3.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.
Darius Hannah has also made an impact over the last few weeks collecting his 133rd block placing him 6th all-time.
About the Beacons
The Beacons are looking to build momentum going into the Arch Madness tournament. After starting out conference play 3-2, The Beacons dropped nine games in a row during the middle portion of their schedule however they have been able to get their feet back under them as of late, sweeping the season series's against Missouri State, and avenging losses against Southern Illinois and Belmont. The Beacons offensive effort is led by Cooper Schwieger and All Wright scoring 14.8 and 14.1 points respectively. Roger Powell Jr. is the head man for the Beacons and is in his 3rd season with a career head coaching record of 20-41.
