Peoria, Ill. – Bradley Women's Basketball's Ellie McDermid Named MVC Freshman of the Week, her second honor of the season.
Freshman forward Ellie McDermid has been named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Freshman of the Week for her performance during the week of Feb. 14–Mar. 3. McDermid has become a staple of the Braves' defense throughout the season, playing a crucial part in the conference leading defense.
In Bradley's loss to Valparaiso, McDermid recorded her third double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. She also snagged one assist, three blocks and added a steal.
In Bradley's victory against UIC, McDermid went 7-14 (.500) from the field, barring the most field-goals made in a single game in her career. She recorded 9 rebounds, 15 points, two assists, 2 blocks and a career-high 3 steals. She also played in a season-high 37 minutes
Over the course of the weekend, McDermid averaged 9.5 rebounds, 15.0 points, and a field goal percentage of .440.
In Missouri Valley play, McDermid ranks in the top 20 in rebounds per game (6.5). She also ranks in the top 10 in blocks per game (0.9). Not only is McDermid an instrumental part in the Braves' success but she has established herself as one of the top freshmen in the conference.
