PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley University women's basketball athlete Ellie McDermid has been named this week's Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday. McDermid was honored after tallying a career-high 15 points in each game against Valparaiso and UIC, including her third double-double of the season.

The freshman from Green Bay, Wisconsin, scored a career-best 15 points against Valparaiso on Feb. 27 with a career-high seven made free throws. McDermid also tallied 10 rebounds against the Beacons for her third double-double of the season. McDermid followed up with another 15-point performance against UIC on March 1 with a career-high seven made field goals in the home finale. McDermid's performances led to her winning her second Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week honor of the season.

McDermid's strong performance and academic success have earned her this week's Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete honor.
