Braves Advance!
The Braves have punched their ticket to the semifinals of the MVC Men's Basketball Tournament, where they will await the winner of Valparaiso vs. Northern Iowa. This marks the third straight season that the Braves have advanced to at least the semifinals.
Duke Deen and
Darius Hannah led the way for the Braves with 16 points and 17 points, respectively.
Ahmet Jonovic couldn't have picked a better game to have one of his best performances in a Bradley uniform. The big Serbian collected nine points and 10 rebounds while also setting the tone for the Braves with a pair of thunderous slams that sparked their second-half surge.
Bradley opened the game with a 9-0 scoring run before the Racers were able to draw level and pull ahead. The Racers went on a few runs and led BU 28-27 at halftime. However, the Braves made a point to attack inside and found great success as Jaquan Johnson and Zek Montgomery both picked their spots well, combining for 21 points. The Braves outscored the Racers 43-34 in the second half to seal the win. With the quarterfinal round in the books, Bradley can now look to the semifinals. Both games will air on CBS Sports Network, with the first semifinal coming at 2:30 PM CST and the second semifinal at 5:00 PM CST. The winners will advance to the championship game, which will be played early Sunday afternoon on CBS.
First Semifinal | #4 Belmont vs #1 Drake, 2:30 PM CST
Second Semifinal | #11 Valparaiso/#3 UNI vs #2 Bradley, 5:00 PM CST
Bradley's two possible opponents both have had success this season, Northern Iowa finished third in the MVC standings while splitting the two meetings with the Braves with a runner up for MVC player of the year in Tytan Anderson. Meanwhile Valparaiso had two very different games with the Braves this season. BU and VU's initial meeting was back in Decemebr where BU pulled out a 2OT win over the Beacons, the two wouldn't meet again until the end of the regular season where BU defeated Valparaiso on the road back in late February.
