Bradley Baseball took an early lead against the Iowa Hawkeyes but ultimately couldn't hang on, falling 12-5 on Wednesday in Iowa City, Iowa.
Game 1: Bradley 5, Iowa 12
The Braves came out strong, taking a 1-0 lead in the first on a wild pitch and extending it to 4-0 in the top of the third on a Timmy O'Brien three-run bomb. However, the Hawkeyes bounced back with six runs in the bottom of the third and held the lead for the rest of the game. Timmy O'Brien was a big contributor in this one, hitting 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk, three RBI, and a run scored. Bobby Atkinson also had a solid day, hitting 1-for-2 with two walks, an RBI, and two runs scored. Reece Clapp had another good relief outing, tossing a scoreless 1 ⅓ innings while giving up a hit and striking out two.
