The Bradley Braves lost the final game of their first homestand to the Iowa Hawkeyes on Tuesday. Bradley kept it close early, only trailing by two after four, but Iowa ran with the lead in the fifth, scoring five runs to give themselves a seven-run lead and ended the game with a 13-3 win.
Game 1: University of Iowa 13, Bradley 3
Iowa came out firing in the first, scoring five runs before the Braves had a chance to hit. Bradley began to chip away at the deficit, scoring one run in the bottom of the first, the second, and the fourth to make the score 5-3. However, the Hawkeyes scored eight unanswered runs to win 13-3. Timmy O'Brien had a phenomenal day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two solo shots, two RBI, and two runs scored. Gavin Thompson had a good day in relief, pitching two scoreless innings while allowing a hit, no walks, and striking out two.
