Peoria, Ill. – Bradley's Timmy O'Brien Named MVC Player of the Week
Bradley junior first baseman Timmy O'Brien has been named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Player of the Week.
O'Brien continued his tear through opposing pitching, hitting .417 across the three-game sweep while launching three home runs and driving in 10 RBIs in the series alone. The Park Ridge, Illinois native has now homered in five straight games, hitting four bombs this past week to take over as the MVC home run leader with 14 on the season.
In total, O'Brien tallied 13 RBIs in just one week, finishing the weekend with a staggering 1.167 slugging percentage and 14 total bases. His timely hits provided key sparks in each of the Braves' wins, including a two-homer performance in Saturday's doubleheader that broke the series wide open.
While his bat made headlines, O'Brien's glove has been just as consistent. He ranks in the top 10 in the MVC in fielding percentage (.996), is 5th in the Valley in total chances (277), and 4th in putouts (255). Over the weekend, he recorded 31 putouts without an error, anchoring a Braves defense that remains one of the most efficient in the league.
This honor marks O'Brien's first MVC weekly honor in his time at Bradley.
