IND ST SERIES RECAP

Braves Close Series with Shutout, Reset for Final Stretch

Game Recap: Softball |

PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley Softball showed toughness and resolve on Saturday afternoon, closing out its Missouri Valley Conference series against Indiana State with a 3–0 shutout win at OSF Healthcare Field. The victory came at the right time, helping the Braves regain footing after a pair of frustrating losses to open the weekend.

Friday's series opener was a near-miss. Bradley clawed its way back into the game with a two-run sixth inning, powered by veteran bats like Ashley Breeding and Sydney Kennedy, but ultimately fell short, 3–2. The narrow loss was a gut punch for a team eager to snap out of a slump.

Later that evening, the Sycamores rode early momentum to a 4–0 win, holding Bradley in check despite solid contact from the Braves' lineup. While the bats were active, execution in scoring moments proved elusive as Bradley dropped its fifth conference game in a row.

But the energy shifted in game three.

Behind a dominant complete-game shutout from Kennedy, Bradley finally put it all together. The offense capitalized early with RBI at-bats from Olivia Turner and Morgan Schlosser, while Breeding continued her steady production with another run-scoring single. Kennedy silenced Indiana State's offense from start to finish, helping the Braves snap their skid and earn a win they badly needed.

The Braves are headed to Illinois State on Tuesday to finish the season series, and then hosting Evansville this weekend for Senior Weekend.

Building Blocks Moving Forward:

  • Sydney Kennedy's complete-game shutout was her best performance of the season, allowing just 3 hits in the win.

  • Ashley Breeding continues to pace the offense, leading the team in hits and RBIs for the weekend.

  • Freshman Olivia Turner has carved out a consistent role, adding key at-bats in multiple games this series.
