INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Seven Bradley Track & Field athletes have qualified to compete in the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Bryant-College Station, Texas, as the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced the participants for the 2025 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships First Round competitions.
Two-time MVC Champion and program-record-holder
Jamie Phillips and 800m Drake Relays Champion
Jaxson Copelin will compete in the men's 800m event.
Jack Crull, Indoor Mile MVC Champion and 1500m Stanford Invitational Champion, takes on the men's 1500m event for the third consecutive year.
Abigail Hancock, Indoor Mile MVC Champion,
Kaitlyn Sheppard, Outdoor 1500m MVC Champion, and
Trixie Wraith, all of whom won the MVC Indoor Championship in the Distance Medley Relay, will run in the women's 1500.
Nadia Potgieter, the second-fastest women's 5000m athlete in program history, competes in the women's 5000m semifinal for the second consecutive season.
Crull qualifies for his third consecutive NCAA Outdoor Preliminary Meet, the first men's athlete to do so since Alec Hartman qualified in 2018, 2019 and 2021 (no NCAA Championships were held in 2020). Potgieter qualifies for the second consecutive year, while Phillips, Copelin, Wraith, Hancock and Sheppard each qualify for the first time. This marks the 13th consecutive season at least one Bradley Track & Field athlete has qualified for an NCAA Preliminary meet.
Seven athletes qualifying for the West Prelims ties the program record for most athletes to compete in an NCAA Preliminary Competition and is the most under Head Coach Andrew Carlson. Seven Braves qualified for the West Prelims in 2016 and 2021.
