Josh Vaughn has been named this week's Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday. Vaughn was honored after throwing five no-hit innings and earning his first collegiate win against Indiana State in Marion, Ill.
The freshman from Mapleton, Illinois, pitched his best outing in his sixth career pitching start as a Brave on Saturday, May 3, tossing five hitless innings with three walks and three strikeouts against Indiana State, collecting his first collegiate pitching win. Vaughn has allowed just four runs (three earned) in 15.1 innings pitched (1.76 ERA) with 13 strikeouts in his last three starts, all in Missouri Valley Conference action.
Vaughn's strong performance and academic success have earned him this week's Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete honor.
