PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore
Ellie McDermid of the women's basketball team is the January Prairie Farms Bradley Athlete of the Month, earning the honor after a fan vote.
McDermid appeared in all nine games during the month, starting five for the Braves. McDermid notched her first double-double of the season against Drake on Jan. 16, tallying 14 points and 10 rebounds. Two days later, McDermid grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds against Northern Iowa. Defensively, she registered at least one block in five of nine games.
McDermid earned the Prairie Farms Athlete of the Month accolade after a fan vote on the school's X account. She collected 40.9 percent of the vote to beat out Travis Gaffney of the track & field team (22.7 percent),
Tamia Perryman of the women's basketball team (18.2 percent) and Sawyer LeBlanc of the track & field team (18.2 percent).
