UT Martin used a big early inning to seize control and never looked back, defeating Bradley 17-2 on Friday afternoon at Skyhawk Field.
The Skyhawks struck first in the opening inning before delivering the decisive blow in the second. UT Martin erupted for nine runs in the frame, capitalizing on walks and timely hits to quickly build a double-digit advantage.
Bradley threatened on several occasions but was kept off the scoreboard through the first seven innings. UT Martin starter Jacob Sitton controlled the game on the mound, limiting the Braves to just three hits across seven scoreless innings while striking out eight.
The Braves broke through in the eighth inning. Bradley collected three hits in the frame and pushed across two runs to get on the board late. Hayden Miller and Sohrab Rezaei each scored in the inning as Bradley trimmed the deficit.
UT Martin continued to add to its lead throughout the afternoon, scoring twice in the fourth and five more runs in the seventh to secure the victory.
Bradley finished the game with six hits. Landon Lowe led the Braves at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance and drove in Bradley's lone RBI, while Rezaei also recorded two hits. Angelo Aleman and Jaxon Schumacher each added a hit for the Braves.
On the mound, William Soignier (0-1) was charged with the loss after allowing 10 runs in 1.1 innings. Eli Lehrman followed with 3.2 innings of relief, surrendering two runs, while Drew Politte and Tristan Duke also saw time out of the bullpen.
UT Martin totaled 11 hits and drew 14 walks in the contest, with TJ Grines leading the offensive effort with three hits and four RBIs.
