Box Score 2 PEKIN, Ill. – Bradley Tennis played two more tight dual matches over the weekend, defeating Western Illinois, 4-3, on Friday before falling to St. Thomas, 4-3, on Sunday.
BRADLEY vs WESTERN ILLINOIS
The Braves began the home weekend with a rally to defeat Western Illinois, 4-3, on Friday, Feb. 6.
Anna Belogliadova and
Valeriia Ivanovskaia made quick work of their opponents on court two, defeating Richardlyne Francois and Madeleine Whip, 6-1, in just over 25 minutes. However, Western Illinois victories on courts one and three allowed the Leathernecks to secure the doubles point.
Singles action got underway with a straight-set victory by
Ruby Tseng on court four, winning 7-5, 6-1. Three-set wins on courts two and three from the Leathernecks gave Western Illinois a 3-1 advantage in the overall match with three matches to go.
The Braves' rally began with Ivanovskaia prevailing in a three-hour marathon over Francois, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, on court one. A key straight-set victory from freshman
Amber Sharp, 6-2, 7-6 (3), brought the match to 3-3. Fellow freshman
Ann Hsieh closed her match in straight sets just 20 minutes later, winning 6-4, 7-5, to secure the match victory for the Braves.

Bradley began the day with two commanding doubles victories, as a 6-2 victory from

Amber Sharp on court one and a 6-3 victory from
Mariia Pukhina and
Ann Hsieh earned the doubles point for the Braves.
Singles play began with a St. Thomas victory on court one before
Ruby Tseng earned her fifth singles win of the dual season, winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 on court three.
Anna Belogliadova picked up a second singles victory on court four, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. However, Tommie victories on courts two, five and six secured the 4-3 win for St. Thomas.
