Game Recap: Baseball |

MACOMB, Ill. – Bradley Baseball dropped its midweek matchup on Tuesday afternoon, falling 12-7 to Western Illinois at Alfred D. Boyer Stadium.

Early Deficit Too Much to Overcome

Bradley found itself playing from behind early as Western Illinois struck for two runs in both the first and second innings to take a 4-0 lead. The Braves began to chip away, highlighted by a solo home run from Anthony Martinez in the third and a two-run fourth inning that trimmed the deficit to one.

Bradley evened the game in the sixth behind an RBI single from Colin McCormick and aggressive baserunning that led to a run scoring on a steal of home. However, the Leathernecks responded immediately, reclaiming control with a four-run seventh inning before adding four more in the eighth to create separation late.

Standout Performances for Bradley

Michael Quick led the offense with a 2-for-4 day, adding an RBI and three stolen bases. Colin McCormick and Landon Lowe each recorded a hit and an RBI, while Anthony Martinez provided the biggest swing with his solo home run.

Hayden Miller reached base twice, scored two runs, and swiped a base as part of Bradley's active effort on the basepaths, finishing with five stolen bases on the day.

On the Mound

Eli Lehrman got the start for the Braves, allowing four runs over 4.2 innings while striking out three. The bullpen was unable to slow Western Illinois down late, surrendering eight runs across the final three innings as the Leathernecks pulled away.

Western Illinois was powered by Joe Connolly and Liam Bushey, who combined for seven RBIs, including a two-run homer in the second and a grand slam in the eighth inning.
