PEORIA, IL – The Bradley Braves Softball team fell in the third game of the series to UIC, 13-4. Despite the loss, Bradley still wins the series, 2-1, their first series victory in Missouri Valley Conference play.
The Braves scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second, when junior
Ella Shafer worked a bases-loaded walk. Sophomore
Olivia Turner hit a sacrifice fly to right field in the third inning to bring home senior
Brynna Seitz. The Braves started to rally in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Turner hit another sacrifice fly, this time to center, scoring Seitz once more. The following batter for the Braves, sophomore
Emily Organ, hit a second consecutive sacrifice fly to center, scoring senior
Austin Comstock, the Braves' fourth run. The Braves lost the game after playing five innings.
Comstock led the Braves with a pair of hits, as Turner led the offense with two RBIs. Turner notched the only extra-base hit for the team, hitting a double in the second inning. The Braves earned four walks as a team. The Braves used all three of their pitchers in the contest. Senior Kinsley Roberston threw for three of the innings, earning three strikeouts.
