MURRAY, KY. – The Bradley Braves Softball team was tied with Murray State through seven, yet lost in the eighth inning to the Racers.
In the top of the third inning, senior
Austin Comstock hit a sacrifice fly into right field, tying the game at one. The Braves took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning when junior
Ella Shafer laid down a bunt that scored sophomore
Morgan Schlosser. In the top of the sixth inning, senior
Ashley Breeding hit a home run over the left field fence, giving Bradley a 3-1 lead. The Braves held Murray State's bats to zero runs from the second through the fifth inning, yet a pair of runs by the Racers in the sixth forced extra innings. Murray State scored the fourth run in the bottom of the eighth inning with one out. The Braves fell 4-3.
Both Breeding and Shafer recorded two hits for Bradley. The Braves as a team had eight hits, compared to the Racers 10. Senior
Kierston McCoy logged a double, as Schlosser recorded a triple, her third of the year. Across all 7.1 innings, sophomore
Abby Rusher was in the circle for the Braves. Rusher did not give up a walk throughout the entire contest, with only one extra base hit.
