PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley University track & field athlete Julia de Palma Mendiguchia has been named this week's Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday. De Palma was honored after breaking the 400m Hurdles program record at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif.

The sophomore from Seville, Spain, broke her own 400m program record last weekend, clocking a time of 1:01.09 in the event. Her time bested her prior record by over a full second and ranks third in the Missouri Valley Conference. She has owned the event program record since April of 2025, when she bested Charlene Dewey's 1:03.25 from 1985.

De Palma's strong performance and academic success have earned her this week's Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete honor.
