MVC Newcomer of the Week: Feb. 14, 2022

2021-22 • GRADUATE
Appeared in all 31 contests in his one season on campus, ranking second on the team and eighth in the Valley with 3.1 assists per game • Also led the conference with a 1.87 assist-to-turnover ratio • Earned MVC Newcomer of the Week honors on Feb. 14 after leading Bradley to back-to-back wins against Loyola and Drake • Scored in double digits for the first time during the season with 12 points versus the Ramblers (Feb. 9) before adding a season-best 14 to go with four assists against the Bulldogs (Feb. 12) • Led the team in assists on 12 occasions, registering at least five in seven games • Tallied a season-best seven helpers in a win versus Maine (Nov. 27) • Also collected six in a Senior Day victory over Valparaiso (Feb. 26) • Added 2.5 rebounds per game and 27 total steals during the season • Collected a season-best five boards versus SIU Edwardsville (Dec. 4) with a season-high four steals at Evansville (Feb. 5).
 
UC SAN DIEGO
Played four seasons at UC San Diego from 2017 to 2021 • Graduated as the program’s all-time leader in assists with 502 in 113 career games • Ranked 12th in Division I and first in the Big West with 6.0 assists per game during the 2020-21 season • Also added 6.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.9 steals as a senior • Helped lead the Tritons to three California Collegiate Athletic Association titles during his first three seasons on campus • Earned second-team All-CCAA accolades as a junior, helping UC San Diego to a 30-1 record and a No. 4 Division II national ranking • Ranked sixth in the country with 6.9 assists per game in 2019-20 before the postseason was canceled.
 
HIGH SCHOOL
Earned three letters at San Marcos High School • Collected first-team all-league honors as a junior and second-team accolades as a sophomore (missed his senior season with an injury) • Led the Knights to a 28-4 record during his final campaign, capping the year with their third-straight league title • Averaged 11 points, seven assists, three rebounds and one steal during the 2014-15 season.

Born May 3, 1998 in Columbus, Ohio • Son of Mike and Sonia Howell • Five siblings – Hassan, Jamal, Tiffani, Jasmine and Chris • Earned his bachelor’s degree in international business from UC San Diego and is pursuing his master’s in management.
