Newburger played in 31 games last season with 11 starts ... Once again saw time in both corner outfield positions, as well as first base ... Went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored March 13 versus Toledo.
2004 at Bradley
Newburger played in 43 games with 35 starts at several positions ... In the double-header sweep versus Wisconsin-Stout, Newburger was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two runs batted in ... After breaking his hand versus Wichita State his freshman season, Newburger was 5-for-8 at the plate with a pair of runs scored and runs batted in versus the Shockers the second time around.
2003 at Bradley
A mid-year transfer from the University of Iowa, Newburger worked his way into the lineup by late March ... Suffered a broken hand when hit by a pitch April 19 versus Wichita State and played in only one more game the rest of the season ... His only error of the season came in the same game he broke his hand ... In the April 12 doubleheader versus Southern Illinois, Newburger went 3-for-6 with a home run and three runs scored.

A three-sport star at Vernon Hills High School, Newburger earned a total of eight letters in baseball (3), basketball (3) and football (2) ... An all-state quarterback during his junior and senior years, Newburger led the infant Vernon Hills football program to a state playoffs quarterfinal appearance in 2001 while passing for 2,800 yards and 24 touchdowns ... The Daily Herald Athlete of the Year, Newburger also earned all-state baseball honors as a senior after hitting .515 with eight home runs and 45 RBI.
