The majority of all sports are ruled by short accelerations,
        the ability to control, balance and make an explosive initial
                 move in a reactive direction is
                         vital in athletic performance
.

The aptitude to accelerate in a coordinated fashion can be crucial for
        success and injury prevention.

As with all training, the acceleration aspect is progressed along with the needs and abilities of the team throughout the yearly training plan and the readiness of the athlete will determine the priority for the incorporation of speed and acceleration training.
