Bradley University Athletics

Introduced in 2007, the Coach Joe Stowell Award, is presented annually to recognize the male and female student-athletes who best exemplify Stowell’s love for Bradley Athletics, as well as dedication to their teams and teammates.  Stowell has been directly associated with Bradley Athletics since World War II, first as a student-athlete from 1946-50, then as a men's basketball assistant coach from 1956-65, the second-winningest men's basketball head coach in program history from 1965-78, an assistant athletic director from 1978-85, the women's basketball head coach from 1981-83 and the men's basketball radio analyst from 1985-2010.  In his various roles associated with the men's basketball program, Stowell was witness to 1,545 men's basketball games and he has attended countless other Bradley Athletics events as an avid fan of his beloved Braves.
