Worked out of the bullpen in 34 of his first 38 career appearances, including all of his 25 outings in 2011 and 2013-14 ... Started the 2011 season in a setup platoon with junior college transfer Danny Gifford and excelled in the role by going 1-0 with a 0.90 ERA in seven appearances through March 18 ... Did not allow a run in six of his seven appearances, earning his first career win Feb. 20, 2011 versus Dayton ... Missed the remainder of the 2011 campaign and all of 2012 ... Earned his first career save with 1.1 scoreless innings of work at Tennessee Tech March 6, 2010.

Considered one of the top pitchers in the Midwest, Johnson was a three-year letterwinner for coach Terry Steinbach at Wayzata (Minn.) High School ... Was rated the No. 2 player in the state of Minnesota by Perfect Game Crosschecker ... Earned honorable mention all-conference honors and helped the Trojans win the conference championship as a senior ... Went 7-2 with a 1.77 ERA during his junior campaign, striking out 45 in 55 innings pitched ...
