The 2007  Valley Freshman of the Year when he went 7-2 with five saves, Altbach has struggled in his last three seasons on the mound ... Has dropped 11 consecutive decisions, dating back to an 8-4 win March 7, 2009 at Cincinnati ... Did turn in an effective start April 11 versus Missouri State, allowing only one run on three hits in his 5.0 innings of an eventual 9-8 Braves victory.

A four-year letterwinner, Altbach helped Glenbrook North (Ill.) High School to two regional championships ... Named all-state his senior season and all-area three years ... Posted a 1.10 ERA with a 9-0 record and 98 strikeouts in 60 innings during his senior campaign.
